Q: When is the fort open?
A: Currently we are open Friday, Saturday, & Sunday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Q: Why are there limited hours?
A: The Golden Gate Bridge is undergoing retrofitting and for your safety and the safety of others, the fort is closed four days out of the week. When you're working on something above you, it is good to make sure there is no one below.
Q: Can I walk or bike there?
A: Yes, you can either follow along the shoreline of the Marina, through Crissy Field or follow along the main road which is Lincoln Blvd. and take Long Avenue down to the fort.
Q: How do I get to the Golden Gate Bridge?
A: If you're walking from the fort, follow the road to the ranger station. You will then see a trailhead next to some stairs. Just follow the path up to the Golden Gate Bridge Toll Plaza area.
Q: What services are at Fort Point? Is there any food available?
A: The fort has many programs available when it's open to the public. You can either catch a tour of the fort or attend a cannon loading demonstration. If you are interested in learning more about the history of the fort or about the Golden Gate Bridge, we do provide video presentations about them in our visitor center. We also do have a few exhibits available on the first floor.
Q: Is the fort accessible?
A: Not entirely. Although the fort does its best to accommodate as many of its visitors as possible by providing exhibits on the first floor, there is no elevator access to the upper levels of the fortification.
