Price Trends for Federal-Aid Highway Construction

Status of Data Collection and Reporting

The data (FHWA-45 (Bid Price Data)) used to produce the "Price Trends for Federal-Aid Highway Construction" is no longer being collected, per Federal Highway Administration's (FHWA) memorandum of May 22, 2007. At this time, the latest available cost index data is the fourth quarter of 2006.

The Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) is working on a new approach/ methodology to generating the cost index. After implementation of this new approach, the new price indices will be generated back to 2006 as a means of comparison between the old and the new methodologies.

A press release will be distributed announcing the availability of the new index once the software has been completed and tested. If you have any questions, please contact Karen White of FHWA's Office of Policy at 202-366-9474.
