Installation Instructions
Technical Support
If you encounter any problems with the installation of HealthySEAT Version 2, please send an email to: HSEAT_Support@cdm.com.
When installing HealthySEATv2, please take note of the following:
- Administrative rights on the computer are required for the installation of HealthySEATv2. To obtain or
verify the status of administrative rights,
contact the district’s IT department for assistance.
- Microsoft Access 2003 Runtime is automatically installed along with HealthySEATv2.
- NOTE: If the user has other MS Access databases that require a full (non-Runtime) version of MS Access that is already
installed on the computer, users may find that their other
database files may no longer open by simply double-clicking on them
(or their shortcuts). This is because each time HealthySEATv2 is run, Windows will
associate all files using the .MDB file extension with Microsoft Access 2003 Runtime version.
This is a typical Windows characteristic any time multiple
versions of any software are present on a computer. However,
the files have not been damaged or moved, and can be easily opened simply by highlighting and right-clicking the file,
choosing "Open with..." and selecting the appropriate full
version of MS Access (i.e., 97, 2000, 2002, 2003). A more permanent solution is to simply modify
any shortcuts from existing database files to include the full path of
the .EXE file to the appropriate version of MS Access.
- Each time HealthySEATv2 is downloaded and installed, a new (empty) version of the HealthySEATv2 “back-end” database will be placed on the computer. If the user has an existing database, using the “Re-establish Database Connection” option on the “Customize for District” menu will be required to link the newly installed HealthySEATv2 application to the existing database. See Section Section 4.3.1 of the User's Manual for detailed instructions on re-establishing the database connection.
- Technical Support:

Installing HealthySEATv2 on a Network
If you intend to use HealthySEATv2 in a multi-user networked environment, it is highly recommended that you coordinate with a District IT (Information Technology) specialist and review the information for advanced users found in the User's Manual in Section 7. If you are upgrading from a previous HealthySEAT version, refer to Section 4.3.1 of the User's Manual for help re-connecting to your existing HealthySEAT database.
Upgrading From Version 1 to Version 2 (v2)
The following two subsections apply only if you have used HealthySEAT Version 1 to customize your assessment program, or enter important data. If you have installed, but not used HealthySEAT Version 1, go directly to the subsection below entitled "Uninstalling HealthySEAT Version 1".Before Installing HealthySEATv2
If you have used HealthySEAT Version 1 to customize your assessment program, or enter important data, follow these steps to ensure that your data is not lost or corrupted during the process of upgrading to HealthySEATv2:- Open HealthySEAT Version 1.
- From the HealthySEAT Version 1 Main Menu, click on the button labeled "Customize for District"
- From the Customize for District screen, click on the button labeled “Establish Database Connection”
- From the Establish Database Connection screen, note the full path to the current back end database connection.

- Go the location noted in Step 3 and copy BE_HSEAT.mdb to a local folder (e.g., "C:\HealthySEATv1\Backend").
After Installing HealthySEATv2
If you have used HealthySEAT Version 1 to customize your assessment program, or enter important data, follow these steps to ensure that your data is not lost or corrupted during the process of upgrading to HealthySEATv2, follow these steps:
Note: this only applies to HealthySEAT Version 1 users who are upgrading to HealthySEATv2, and who have entered important data into their HealthySEAT Version 1 database. After downloading and installing HealthySEATv2, the first time you run HealthySEATv2 it will automatically connect to a blank Version 2 database. However, you will likely want to connect to your existing Version 1 database. To do so, you must be a HealthySEAT user with administrator privileges. Follow these steps:
- Create a subfolder in the HealthySEATv2 installation folder (e.g., default is C:\Program Files\HealthySEAT2) called "V1_Upgraded."
- Copy the Version 1 back end database (e.g, C:\HealthySEATv1\Backend\BE_HSEAT.mdb) to the newly created subfolder (e.g., C:\Program Files\HealthySEAT2\V1_Upgraded). This is the working copy of the Version 1 back end database that will be upgraded.
- Open HealthySEATv2.
- From the HealthySEATv2 Main Menu, click on the button labeled "Customize for District."
- From the Customize for District screen, click on the button labeled "Re-establish Database Connection."
- From the Re-establish Database Connection screen, click on the Browse button.
- A dialog box entitled “Select the database file…” will appear. Use this dialog box to navigate to the working copy of your HealthySEAT Version 1 back end database (e.g., C:\Program Files\HealthySEAT2\V1_Upgraded\BE_HSEAT.mdb).
- The full path the database file selected should appear in the text box labeled “Establish Connection To:”
- If the path is correct, click the button labeled “Establish Connection.” You will be notified that the database you are trying to connect to needs to be updated, and asked for permission to proceed. Acknowledge all such messages. After the update is completed, you should receive confirmation that the update process completed successfully.
- Click on the button labeled "Save and Return to Customize for District."
- Use the buttons on the Customize for District screen to make sure that you can access your Version 1 data (e.g., facilities, assessors, guidebook changes).
- Exit HealthySEATv2 using the Exit button on the button bar.
If you are using HealthySEAT is a single-user environment, go directly to the subsection below entitled "Uninstalling HealthySEAT Version 1."
If you are using HealthySEAT in a multi-user networked environment, then follow these additional steps:
- Copy the newly converted Version 1 database (e.g., C:\Program Files\HealthySEAT2\V1_Upgraded\BE_HSEAT.mdb) to the folder noted in Step 3 of the subsection above entitled "Before Installing HealthySEAT v2". When prompted, confirm that you wish to overwrite the existing file. This is the shared production copy of the Version 2 back end database.

- The full path the database file selected should appear in the text box labeled “Establish Connection To:”
- If the path is correct, click the button labeled “Establish Connection.” You should receive a confirmation message after the database connection is re-established successfully.
- Click on the button labeled "Save and Return to Customize for District."
- Exit HealthySEATv2 using the Exit button in the button bar.
- For each HealthySEAT user, repeat steps 14 through 22 after HealthySEATv2 is installed, then follow the steps under the subsection below entitled "Uninstalling HealthySEAT Version 1."
