Excellent wildlife viewing opportunities are available along this scenic 140-mile drive. Occasional pronghorn, as well as northern harrier, ferruginous and red-tailed hawks and golden eagles reside in the sagebrush grasslands from Marsing to Jordan Valley.

Winter visitors are likely to see rough-legged hawks here as well. As you get closer to Marsing, keep an eye out for ring-necked pheasant, sandhill crane, white-faced ibis (spring and fall), and mule deer and coyotes near Jordan Creek.

From March to May, visitors have the best chance of viewing sage grouse along Flint Creek Road and Bachman Grade Road. The perennial streams in this area are full of native redband trout and many species including mule deer, red fox, river ottter, beaver, mink, songbirds, amphibians and reptiles rely on this lush riparian environment for survival.

Spencer Reservoir is located just east to Triangle Junction and hosts Canada geese, snow geese, grebes, tundra swans and several shorebirds in spring and fall.

As you continue on your journey, you will cross Toy Pass and notice several bluebird boxes just north of Hyde Saddle. You should also look for a variety of raptors, as well as occasional long-billed curlews and burrowing owls as you travel between Oreana and Walters Ferry.

Directions: From Jordan Valley, turn left on Yturri Blvd., right on Juniper Mountain Road., left on Flint Creek, and follow signs to Triangle and Oreana. From Marsing, the trip length is approximately 140 miles.
