Northeast & Caribbean (2) -->

GSA and the National Response Framework

GSA’s Northeast and Caribbean Region is ready to support federal agencies and state, local and tribal governments in preparing for and responding during incidents of national significance through leadership and participation under the National Response Framework (NRF). This support will help ensure that essential government services continue with minimal interruption.

GSA is the co-lead agency under the terms of the NRF for performing the emergency support function (ESF) referred to as “ESF-7 Logistics and Resource Support” during incidents of national significance. Specifically, GSA’s role – along with those of the other ESF-7 support agencies – is to provide emergency support in such areas as:

  • buildings and space;
  • supplies, tools and equipment;
  • telecommunications and information technology;
  • contracting support;
  • freight and maritime transportation;
  • vehicles; and
  • services.

GSA employees have the knowledge and experience, as well as a number of contracting vehicles to use on behalf of customers, to implement GSA’s emergency support function.

GSA also plays a vital role in just about every other ESF identified in the NRF.
