How to Download the Green Chemistry Expert System

The file gcesinst.exe contains a self-extracting archive of all the files needed to install and run the GCES. It also contains a copy of the GCES User's Manual, although you have the option of downloading just the User's Manual above. More detailed instructions on the installation and use of the GCES may be found in the system documentation.

The GCES requires about 20 MB of drive space for the system. An additional 20 MB of drive space is needed temporarily for installation, but this space can be freed up after installation is complete.

Installation of the Green Chemistry Expert System:

  1. Click the link above to download gcesinst.exe.

  2. Locate gcesinst.exe on your hard drive. You can do this with either the File Manager (Windows 3.x) or Windows Explorer (Windows 95/98). Double click on gcesinst.exe to begin extraction of the installation package. By default, the files will be extracted into c:\gcesinst. If you change the location of the extracted files, make a note of the location - you will need that information later in the installation process.
  3. The extraction is set up to automatically run the setup file after extraction is complete. If this does not occur, run c:\gcesinst\setup.exe by using File, Run (Windows 3.x) or Start, Run (Windows 95/98). Follow the instructions on the screen during the installation. Once installation is completed successfully, you may delete the c:\gcesinst directory and all the files it contains. You may also delete gcesinst.exe.
