Park to Burn Debris Pile
Fire
management staff at Denali National Park and Preserve will burn
a large pile of debris consisting of trees and branches on Tuesday,
December 6. Ignition of the pile will occur mid-morning. The pile
is located in the park’s sewage lagoon area, which is located on
the north side of the Denali Park Road within the first ½ mile from
its junction with the Parks Highway. The smoke may be visible from
the Parks Highway. The burn pile is situated on a large rock and
gravel pad that is free of vegetation and park staff will be monitoring
the burn to make certain it stays within prescription. The burn
is expected to last four days. The material being burned is the
natural debris that accumulated from this year’s front country construction
projects and various other projects around park headquarters. For
additional information call park headquarters at (907) 683-2294
from 8:00 a.m.-4:30 p.m. daily. -NPS-
