Denali to Burn Pile


Denali National Park and Preserve News Release December 5, 2005 For Immediate Release Contact: Kris Fister (907) 683-9583 Denali Park to Burn Debris Pile

Fire management staff at Denali National Park and Preserve will burn a large pile of debris consisting of trees and branches on Tuesday, December 6. Ignition of the pile will occur mid-morning. The pile is located in the park’s sewage lagoon area, which is located on the north side of the Denali Park Road within the first ½ mile from its junction with the Parks Highway. The smoke may be visible from the Parks Highway. The burn pile is situated on a large rock and gravel pad that is free of vegetation and park staff will be monitoring the burn to make certain it stays within prescription. The burn is expected to last four days. The material being burned is the natural debris that accumulated from this year’s front country construction projects and various other projects around park headquarters.
