OneRail is a newly formed coalition, organized to promote investment in both freight and passenger rail infrastructure. Our goal is to provide new opportunities for increasing investment in rail as a key tool for economic development and redevelopment and as a means to reduce our dependence on fossil fuel and carbon emissions in the transportation sector.

Transportation Performance in the Twin Cities Region (PDF)

Transportation is a means to other ends, not an end in itself. Transportation investments greatly affect the competitiveness of our economy, the health of our environment, and the quality of life in our neighborhoods. The Minnesota Department of Transportation (Mn/DOT) and the Metropolitan Council, which are responsible for planning and investing in the regional transportation system, deserve praise for incorporating performance measurement at various levels of their operations. Current performance measurement, however, tends to project past trends rather than incorporate new concerns affecting the transportation mission

Context Sensitive Solutions: Designing Transportation Projects for People and Places
Denver, CO - STPP and CNT held this workshop to help participants understand what the principles referred to as context sensitive solutions (CSS) are, and how these principles can be used to balance and integrate the needs of travelers and communities in the planning and design of urban transportation systems. The workshop is directed at advocates, local officials and planning/design professionals in state DOTs, transit agencies, and MPOs and consultants.

Getting Transportation & Land Use Decisions that Create Walkable Communities with Mobility Choices
Orlando, FL - STPP and CNT hosted a workshop to help participants identify and create an integrated land use and transportation vision for their community that includes mobility choices for everyone. The workshop was directed at advocates, local officials and planning professionals.

Regarding the Future of National Transportation Policy

April 28, 2009 - STPP President Canby testifies before the Senate Committee on Commerce, Subcommittee on Surface Transportation and Merchant Marine Infrastructure, Safety, and Security on national transportation policy. In her statement she calls for a clear national policy, objectives, outcomes and accountability for the national surface transportation program. (PDF)
