Plane

The park is located on Amaknak Island in the Aleutian Island Chain, 800 miles west of Anchorage, the nearest large urban center. It can be reached by air through commercial and charter flights from Anchorage.

The park is rich in earthworks from the Civil War. To help preserve them we ask that people not climb or play on them.  

Did You Know?
Nearly twenty buildings, including dwellings, churches and mills existed within the present battlefield boundary in 1864. Only the Kolb house, which has been rehabilitated to represent its historic exterior appearance, survives.
