The blurring of lines between investment advisors and broker dealers is 
readily apparent in the somewhat controversial role an advisor by the name 
of Amy Butte has played with regard to the market maker Knight Trimark's 
stock value.

Ms. Butte, an analyst for Bear Stearns, has garnered quite a bit of 
attention for her strange "unattractive" ratings on the company. It is well 
known that BSC has a large stake in a competeting ECN, and has suffered both 
financial and strategic opportunities due to the growing market maker.

invested in a competing ecn and tend to slant their press in accordance with 
their investment.
