In September 2007, the eyes of the world will again be on Little Rock, Arkansas, as we gather to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the 1957 desegregation events at the school.
September 24, 2007 Visitor Center Dedication
On Monday, September 24th, the National Park Service will formally dedicate the new visitor center. Join keynote speaker, Congressman John Lewis, the Little Rock Nine, and others as we officially open the new center. The event is free and open to the public, but tickets are required. Please call 501.374.1957 or email us to reserve tickets. Limit two (2) per person. Please include your name, guest's name if applicable, address, and telephone number.
Note: As of 7/27/2007 all tickets for the dedication ceremony have been reserved.
Parking and Shuttle Information
Parking around Little Rock Central High School is limited. In addition, major streets leading into the area will be closed to traffic.
Free parking at the Arkansas State Fairgrounds (2401 West Roosevelt Road) and shuttle service will be provided. Shuttle service will begin at 8:00 a.m. After the event, the shuttles will continue back to the fairgrounds until 2:00 p.m. Those riding the shuttle MUST have a ticket for the dedication ceremony.
Entrance Gate
The entrance gate for the event will be located at 16th and Park Streets. The shuttles will drop passengers off at this gate.
Other Information
Food and beverages are not allowed into the venue. Free bottled water will be provided courtesy of Coca-Cola. Other prohibited items include: weapons, bottles or cans, coolers, strollers or wagons, chairs, backpacks, duffel bags, luggage, fireworks, horns or other noisemakers, and any other items deemed unlawful, dangerous, or disruptive. Umbrellas also are prohibited; free rain ponchos will be available, however, courtesy of Alltel Wireless, in the event that they are needed. The National Park Service will not be responsible for prohibited items left at the front gate. Ticket holders consent to and are subject to search, and shall not act in a disorderly manner at any time during the event or while inside the venue.
