	Funding to Enforce Drinking Laws The Office of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention has funding opportunities for civilian communities to work with military bases and implement best practices to deter underage drinking by military personnel. The deadline to apply is May 21 at 5 p.m. (EDT).
	Funding for New Innovations The Office of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention is accepting applications for innovations for juvenile justice-related practices at local, state and tribal levels. “The program’s goal is to demonstrate the practical implications for policy and practice of innovative programs that enhance juvenile justice and delinquency prevention.” The deadline to apply is May 26 at 8 p.m. (EDT).
	Funding for Program Evaluation The Office of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention is seeking proposals to evaluate the effectiveness of volunteer versus paid mentoring programs and their impact on preventing delinquency. The deadline to apply is June 2 at 8 p.m. (EDT).
	Tribal Foster Care, Adoption Grant Applications Sought by Administration for Children and Families (ACF) Approximately $1.5 million is available to tribes, Tribal organizations and Tribal consortia to develop foster care, adoption assistance and guardianship assistance programs. ACF expects that approximately five of the one-time, 24-month grants will be made for Title IV-E programs under the Social Security Act. The Deadline to apply is June 19, 2009.
	Small Grant Program for Conference Support The Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality (AHRQ), announces its continued interest in supporting conferences through its Small Grant Program for Conference Support. AHRQ seeks to support conferences that help to further its mission to improve the quality, safety, efficiency, and effectiveness of health care for all Americans. AHRQ is especially interested in supporting conferences that demonstrate strategies which include plans for disseminating conference materials and products beyond the participants attending the event. Grant Expiration Date is October 21, 2009.
	Reducing Health Disparities Among Minority and Underserved Children (R21 version) This initiative is designed to stimulate research that targets the reduction of health disparities among children. For purposes of this initiative, health disparities apply to children who have limited access to resources and privileges that impact their health. As such, this initiative includes a focus on ethnic and racial minority children and populations of underserved children to include: children from low literacy, rural and low-income populations, geographically isolated children, hearing and visually impaired children, physically or mentally disabled children, children of migrant workers, children from immigrant and refugee families, and language minority children. The closing deadline for this grant is Sept. 8, 2010.

	Funding Opportunities - Office of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention The Office of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention has announced several funding opportunities with varying application deadlines.
	Funding Available for Mentoring CBOs The purpose of the Drug Free Community Mentoring Program is to provide grant funds to existing DFC grantees so that they may serve as Mentors to newly-formed and/or developing coalitions that have never received a DFC grant. Mentor grant funds should be used for the direct benefit of the Mentee Community/Coalition. Through the support of DFC mentoring funds, Mentor Coalitions are expected to share their expertise with non-grantee coalitions (Mentee Community/Coalition) and enable them to successfully compete for a DFC grant. The deadline to apply is April 24, 2009.
	Region IX Funding Focus This year Region IX’s funding resources during National Women’s Health Week will be focused on physical activity. The regional Office of Women’s Health is prepared to provide pedometers and other support materials to groups that plan to promote physical activity, e.g., a local walk or run, a Walking Club, the WOMAN Challenge, etc. and will pay for copying or duplication of health materials. In order to qualify for funding, events must be registered through the Web site at http://womenshealth.gov/WHW/index.cfm.
	Maryland Small Grants Program The Harry and Jeanette Weinberg Foundation has initiated the Maryland Small Grants Program, for nonprofits seeking general operating grants of up to $50,000 a year for two years. All that’s required is a simple, five-page proposal, and The Weinberg Foundation will quickly review and respond. In most cases it takes only 50 days to go from “Our application is enclosed” to “Your check is in the mail.”
	Funds available for Senior Programs Approximately $49,362 in Title III-D funds are available annually for one Health Promotion and Disease Prevention program for seniors who are 60 and older in Anoka, Carver, Dakota, Hennepin, Ramsey, Scott or Washington County. The funds will be available beginning Feb. 1, 2009 and ending Dec. 31, 2011 with annual renewal based on successful performance and future available funds. 	The Verizon Foundation:Serving the NonProfit Community The Verizon Foundation looks to forge and maintain partnerships around technology initiatives with local, regional, national and international organizations serving the needs of racial and ethnic communities, people with disabilities, and the economically and socially disadvantaged... The Verizon Foundation Web site also includes grant guidelines, an online grant eligibility quiz and a technology needs assessment section to help nonprofits in applying for grants online, which is the only way applications may be submitted...January 1st through October 31st.
	Annie E. Casey Foundation The Annie E. Casey Foundation is a private charitable organization dedicated to helping build better futures for disadvantaged children in the United States. Organizations wishing to make proposals to the Foundation should submit a letter of no more than three typewritten pages outlining their proposal, the goals of the project, the population served, the amount of funds requested, and a brief history of the organization.
	Public Welfare Foundation The primary goal of the Public Welfare Foundation is to address human needs in disadvantaged communities. The Foundation's grantmaking strongly emphasizes support for organizations that include service, advocacy, or empowerment in their approach, with particular interest in efforts that combine two or all three of these elements. Applications are accepted on an ongoing basis.
	Helping Outreach Programs to Expand Grant Program The U.S. Department of Justice, Office of Justice Programs, Office for Victims of Crime (OVC) will provide up to $10,000 in funding to grassroots community- and faith-based victim service organizations and coalitions to improve outreach and services to crime victims, through support of program development, networking, coalition building, and service delivery. Funds may be used to develop program literature, train advocates, produce a newsletter, support victim outreach efforts, and recruit volunteers. Applications are accepted on an ongoing basis.
	Department of Health and Human Services It is part of the much-publicized national movement toward providing government resources to the general public in a more accessible and meaningful manner. 	Federal Register Notice: Assets For Independence March 15, June 15, and November 1. The Administration for Children and Families, Office of Community Services (OCS) will accept applications for financial assistance to establish and administer Assets for Independence (AFI) Projects. This is a standing announcement. It is effective until canceled or changed by the Office of Community Services.
	Libri Books for Children Program The Libri Books for Children Program donates new, quality, hardcover children's books for small, rural public libraries in the United States. Grants are awarded three times a year. Application deadlines are: (postmarked by) March 15th, July 15th and December 15th.
	RGK Foundation Grants RGK Foundation awards grants in the broad areas of Education, Community, and Medicine/Health. The Foundation's primary interests within Education include programs that focus on formal K-12 education (particularly mathematics, science and reading), teacher development, literacy, and higher education. Within Community, the Foundation supports a broad range of human services, community improvement, abuse prevention, and youth development programs. The Foundation's current interests in the area of Medicine/Health include programs that promote the health and well-being of children, programs that promote access to health services, and Foundation-initiated programs focusing on ALS. 	Illinois Children's Healthcare Foundation The Foundation creates funding opportunities for and leads in the development of initiatives that improve the health of all children. It supports organizations that share the values of open collaboration and selfless commitment to this purpose. Funding from the Foundation is awarded in three ways through: a targeted Request for Proposal, flexible and opportunistic Engagement Funding, or through limited Emergency Funding for urgent needs.
