Cases of H1N1 Flu in Illinois
Illinois Department of Public Health and CDC Issue Updated School Closure Guidelines for H1N1
SPRINGFIELD – Dr. Damon T. Arnold, Illinois Department of Public Health Director, today reported 225 confirmed cases of H1N1 flu (swine flu) and 20 probable cases in Illinois. Illinois Department of Public Health (IDPH) Laboratories are now able to perform confirmatory testing, which is why the state has seen a large increase in the number of confirmed cases over the past couple days.

Names five educators, public advocates to Education Funding Advisory Board
CHICAGO – May 5, 2009. Governor Pat Quinn named five educators to the Education Funding Advisory Board. The Education Funding Advisory Board, in consultation with the State Board of Education, makes recommendations to the General Assembly on funding levels for school districts with a high volume of children at or below the poverty level.
04/29/09 - Several Earth Day in the Parks Events Rescheduled
Significant rain forces some parks to postpone events
SPRINGFIELD – More than 1,500 students are scheduled to visit Illinois Department of Natural Resources (IDNR) state parks for the third annual Earth Day in the Parks event. Earth Day in the Parks is an initiative of the IDNR to introduce students to environmental stewardship. Unfortunately, due to significant rain fall, several parks have decided to postpone/reschedule their Earth Day in the Parks events.
