Research Project: COMBINING ABILITIES FOR YIELD AND VEGETATIVE TRAITS OF UPPER AMAZON COCOA SELECTIONS IN GHANA

Location: Miami, Florida

2006 Annual Report

4d.Progress report.
This report serves to document research conducted under a specific cooperative agreement between ARS and the Cocoa Research Institute of Ghana (CRIG). Additional details of research can be found in the report for the parent project 6631-21000-012-00D Development of DNA markers associated with disease resistance in cacao.

The objective of this cooperative research project is to evaluate various cacao breeding programs at CRIG using molecular markers with a view to establishing a structured genetic breeding population and gaining insight into combining abilities of agronomic traits. This agreement was established in June 2006. The accumulation of single tree data for a combining ability experiment is underway and should be accomplished this year.
