Secretary of Defense William S. Cohen announced today that the President has nominated Air Force Maj. Gen. Joseph H. Wehrle, Jr., for appointment to the grade of lieutenant general with assignment as deputy chief of staff, plans and programs, Headquarters United States Air Force, Pentagon, Washington, D.C.
Wehrle is currently assigned as commander, Third Air Force, United States Air Forces in Europe, RAF Mildenhall, Great Britain.
