The Department of Defense will open the first federal multi-alternative fuel service station in the nation, dispensing ethanol and compressed natural gas, in a ribbon-cutting ceremony on May 1, 2000, at 10 a.m. EDT. Keynote speakers will include Robin Pirie, assistant secretary of Navy (Installations & Environment); T. J. Glauthier, deputy secretary of Energy; Iowa Gov. Tom Vilsack, and Richard Kolodziej, President, Natural Gas Vehicle Coalition.
The event will take place at the Navy Exchange Citgo/Quick Mart, located at 801 South Joyce Street near the Pentagon. Interested media should arrive no later than 9:30 a.m.
There will also be exhibits by auto manufacturers, federal agencies and other related organizations.
