PUBLIC INTEREST ADVISORY FORUM

The Public Interest Advisory Forum (PIAF) represents a cross-section of independent stakeholders in AWWA activities and drinking water issues, providing advice and comment to AWWA's Executive Committee on Association policies and programs. The PIAF works with the volunteer structure of AWWA to build relationships with stakeholder organizations, to provide a vital communication link and to advance mutual goals.

To oversee and coordinate the management and administration of the annual conference and exposition in all aspects other than the technical program; to oversee and direct the scheduling and siting of the annual and specialty conferences by: establishing location for the annual conference through application of the primary/wild card city selection process; establishing site rotation pattern and site selection criteria taking into account the locations of annual conferences, major meetings of other organizations, and joint conferences to which AWWA is party; reviewing specialty conference site recommendations of the Technical & Educational Council (TEC) and its divisions; approving the attachment of exposition components to new specialty conferences and establishing and enforcing appropriate procedures, rules, and regulations for expositions; and recommending to the TEC changes in program structure and schedule of major conferences that may improve their effectiveness.

Provide policy input and develop response and comment within the framework of AWWA on matters affecting Associate Members.
