What are the probabilities of a white Christmas in the Ozarks?

Well, despite the early season snowfall in early December this year, the probability of a white Christmas based on previous climatology is quite low. 

In fact, the probability of having at least an inch of snow on the ground in Springfield on Christmas is only 7%.  The probability increases to 12% for just a trace of snow on the ground.

The greatest amount of snow to fall on Christmas Day in Springfield is 3", which occurred way back in 1892.  The greatest snow depth on Christmas day in Springfield was 9", which occurred back in 2002.  The last measurable snowfall in Springfield on Christmas day was 0.2" back in 2000.
