Research Programs: Particulate Matter (PM) Health Effects
Research Areas

PM Health Effects

Since 1998, EPA's particulate matter research program has been guided by an agenda developed by an independent committee of experts assembled at EPA's request. This committee, the National Research Council (NRC) of the National Academy of Sciences, outlined a series of questions concerning the most significant issues related to PM. Summaries of the progress EPA scientists have made in addressing the questions posed by the NRC concerning human health effects are provided here.
