U names McKnight professors
Assistant professors Sangwon Suh of the Department of Biosystems and Bioproducts Engineering and Jennifer Powers, of the departments of Soil, Water and Climate and Plant Biology have been named as 2009 McKnight Land-Grant Professors at the University of Minnesota.

CFANS scientists are 'on the spot'
Two scientists with CFANS connections -- Water Resources Center co-director Deb Swackhamer, left, and Anita Cholewa, curator of plants at the Bell Museum -- are featured this month as the Science Museum of Minnesota's "Scientists on the Spot." They'll answer questions from the public through January.
Students deliver report to Maplewood

CFANS students have delivered the results of 15 weeks of work to Maplewood residents interested in making their St. Paul suburb more sustainable. The students were enrolled in the Environmental Sciences, Policy and Management senior capstone course.

Three from CFANS named AAAS Fellows
The American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS) has awarded the distinction of Fellow to seven University of Minnesota faculty members this year, including three from CFANS:
• Allen Levine, dean of the college and director of the Minnesota Obesity Center.
•Michael Sadowsky, professor, Department of Soil, Water and Climate.
•Deon Stuthman, professor, Department of Agronomy and Plant Genetics
All three will be honored at the AAAS national meeting in Chicago in February.
