  • The forest's role in Michigan's environmental and economic health,
  • Forest stewardship planning,
  • Identifying common Michigan tree species,
  • Common forest pests and diseases,
  • Management techniques for woodlands and wildlife,
  • Getting the most out of a woodland while maintaining it for future generations, and
  • State and federal programs for forest landowners.

The Sustainable Forestry Education (SFE) logger education program has a new schedule for 2009. This is MSU Extension's 13th year in offering this series! This year's featured topics include information on the emerging bioeconomy and biomass harvesting guidelines. There will also be occasional sessions on managing for aesthetics and forest health updates.
