NWS's Weather Forecast Office in Key West, Florida hosted their second annual Science Saturday complete with educational information, live music, games, tours and food on March 21. This collaborative event between NOAA in the Keys and the National Hurricane Center aims to teach the public about weather safety and the environment.
More than 700 people toured the Weather Forecast Office, visited with NOAA marine scientists and learned about emergency management. In addition, more than $1,000 was raised in a charity raffle for the Sanctuary Friends, NOAA's non-profit education foundation.
Additional information and activities were provided by NOAA partners and customers including emergency managers, law enforcement, fire and rescue, Florida Fish and Wildlife, mosquito control and various educational non-profit groups.
