USAID Improves Local Living Conditions in Primoriye
On November 28, 2008, experts from USAID/Russia and the Fund for Sustainable Development (FSD) conducted a site visit and financial training in the town of Luchegorsk in the Pazharskiy Raion of Primoriye. Luchegorsk is one of the participating towns in USAID’s Community Development Support Program (CDSP), under which the municipal administration is implementing a complex set of measures to improve local safety and living conditions. With support from FSD, the town is modernizing its lighting system by installing new energy-efficient lamps that will provide better illumination of the town’s streets and a public video monitoring system at busy crossways and in local schools. As part of the project, the local NGO Pervotsvet will bring together civic groups and residents to organize environmental and social volunteer activities and events in Luchegorsk and neighboring towns.
