The IAO accomplishes many and varied activities worldwide to promote the interests of the U.S. meteorological and hydrologic communities, including involvement in the following:
Coordinates and monitors bilateral agreements for cooperation in meteorology and hydrology between the United States and other countries
The IAO:
Supports the Permanent Representative (PR) of the United States to the World Meteorological Organization of the United Nations and participates in technical commissions
The IAO:
Supports cooperation with countries worldwide to demonstrate technologies and advance the capabilities of foreign governments in meteorology and hydrology
The IAO:
Manages NWS foreign travel process
Coordinates NWS international training program including Tropical Desk, Africa Desk, and Pacific Desk
