Radiation

What facilities in my area are regulated by U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) regulations for radiation and radioactivity?

The Radiation Information Database (RADINFO) contains information about certain facilities that the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) regulates for radiation and radioactivity. RADINFO currently includes information for facilities governed by:
40 CFR Parts 191 and 194 Department of Energy Waste Isolation Pilot Plant
40 CFR Part 61 Rad National Emissions Standards for Hazardous Air Pollutants
      (NESHAPs)
40 CFR Part 300 National Priority List sites with radioactive contamination
Learn more about RADINFO, including additional information on what you can expect to find as well as future enhancements to the system.

How can I learn about environmental levels of radiation in air, drinking water, precipitation and pasteurized milk?

The RadNet, formerly known as Environmental Radiation Ambient Monitoring System (ERAMS), is a national network of monitoring stations that regularly collect air, precipitation, drinking water, and milk samples for analysis of radioactivity. RadNet has been used to track environmental releases resulting from nuclear emergencies and to provide baseline data during routine conditions. Data generated from RadNet provides the information base for making decisions necessary to ensure the protection of public health.
