B2B Boosts Cross-Border Trading for Balkans
The 7th Business-To-Business Forum sponsored by the Montenegro Business Alliance was held on May 19th at Sveti Stefan, Montenegro. More than 160 companies from the Balkan region as well as Germany and Sweden participated. Seventy companies from Croatia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Serbia, Kosovo, Albania, Germany and Sweden were in attendance. MBA reports several new deals were signed; further details are not yet available.
Business-to-Business (B2B) forums strengthen the private competitive free market system in the Balkans and provide cross-border trading opportunities for Montenegro businesspeople. Each group represented is committed to working with their respective governments to open-up trade and break down cross-border barriers. Participants recognize that a Balkan trading block would be a powerful force in the global marketplace. The first six business-to-business forums sponsored or supported by the Montenegro Business Alliance (MBA) resulted in over 5 million Euros in contracts.
Regional organization partners for the May forum included: AMCham Bosnia and Herzegovina, Chamber of Commerce of Sarajevo Canton, Association of Shareholders Companies from Serbia, USAID KCBS from Kosovo, AmCham Albania, and AATDA from Albania. The MBA program is supported by USAID through a cooperative agreement with the Center for International Private Enterprise.
The 8th B2B Forum is scheduled for late October in Podgorica, Montenegro.
