Carl Sandburg Home NHS is located on 264 acres in Western North Carolina.  In addition to tours of the Sandburg Home, visitors can enjoy over five miles of trails, stroll through gardens and greet the descendents of Mrs. Sandburg's dairy goat herd.  A typical visit lasts 2 hours.

Climate

Temperate with temperatures ranging from high twenties Fahrenheit in the winter months to high eighties in the summer months. Humidity levels vary throughout the year tending to be higher in the morning hours. Monthly precipitation averages three inches, which is a little over the U.S. average.

Did You Know?
Carl Sandburg, who won two Pulitzer prizes and entertained heads of state, presidents, and Hollywood movie stars, only formally graduated from the eighth grade. He attended college classes for four years, but never received a degree.
