Causes favored by organized labor fared poorly in the political arena in 1995; internally a leadership shift and an announced merger signaled the intent of the union movement to remake itself to attract more members. This article examines some important events affecting collective bargaining in 1995. The discussion includes information on significant bargaining situations and on administrative decisions and organizational changes that occurred during the year.
