SEBSCC Modeling Results 1998: Global Model

Our regional model of the Bering Sea receives boundary information from a Spectral Element Ocean Model (SEOM, Haidvogel et al.) which spans the globe. SEOM solves the hydrostatic, or alternatively the non-hydrostatic, primitive equations using a mixed spectral / finite element solution procedure.

An ustructured, quadrilateral grid used for our application is shown below: first for the world, then for the North Pacific. Minimum grid spacing is ~20km.

Forcing mechanisms for SEOM in our application include five tidal components (M2, N2, S2, K1, O1),
and winds. Output is presently barotropic with both tidal and subtidal frequencies.

Below are plots of tidal amplitude and relative phase for the M2
and K1 components.
