(Click to start/stop)

Welcome to the Therapeutic Lifestyle Changes (TLC) section. Here, you will learn how changes in your lifestyle (i.e., eating a low saturated fat, low cholesterol diet [TLC Diet], regular physical activity, and weight management) can help to lower your cholesterol and reduce your chance of having a heart attack or other heart disease complications as well as improve your health in other ways.

The TLC section moves you through several different "cyber rooms," each with several interactive activities to help you learn how to make changes in your diet and activity level to lower your blood cholesterol.

Introduction to the TLC Diet

This should be your starting point in the TLC section. This activity will calculate how much saturated fat, cholesterol and calories you should eat to help lower your blood cholesterol. Once you have completed this activity, you will be able to navigate through the rest of the TLC section.

Virtual Grocery Store

This activity teaches you about reading food labels to help you choose foods low in saturated fat and cholesterol.

Cyber Kitchen

Here you can calculate the amount of saturated fat, cholesterol, fat, calories and sodium you are actually eating according to the serving size you choose. You can also create your own diet to see how well you can meet your TLC Diet goals.

Cyber Cafe

The cafe will provide you with helpful tips on eating out on the TLC Diet.

Fitness Room

Here you will receive information on how regular physical activity can also improve your heart health.
