Shipping Specialist (Meter Machine Operator)

Itasca, IL

The National Safety Council is seeking an organized, reliable Shipping Specialist (Meter Machine Operator) at our corporate office in Itasca, IL. This individual’s primary function will be to run the UPS shipping system. Requirements:

  • Education: High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum 1-2 years experience in a warehouse environment running a shipping system (UPS, FedEx, etc.)
  • Ability to drive a forklift.
  • Ability to use a power jack.
  • Ability to lift up to 60 lbs.
  • Typing of 50 WPM.
  • Experience working with computers.
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills (verbal, written and listening)
  • Positive attitude and willingness to embrace change.

Responsibilities:

Operate the UPS shipping system, which consists of the following tasks:
  • Printing, picking and packing customer orders.
  • Metering all orders that are printed, picked and packed during the course of each day.
  • Shipping all USPS orders (postal)
  • Drive a forklift, as required.
  • Fill in the Lead Shipping position during his/her absence.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned or requested.

Staff Accountant (Financial Results)

Itasca, IL

Requirements:

  • 4 yr. degree in Accounting or equivalent experience. Progress toward MBA and/or CPA desired.
  • 3 - 5 years in similar accounting functions.
  • Knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles.
  • Experience with a Windows-based general ledger system and financial report writer is required, with preferences for Great Plains and FRX.
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel and working knowledge of Microsoft PowerPoint, Word and Access preferred.

Responsibilities:

  • Compiles monthly reconciliation of related accounts and prepares year-end audit schedules.
  • Maintains and creates financial statement reports in Financial Reporting application.
  • Reconciles multiple balance sheet accounts to open trade A/R on a monthly basis.
  • Participates in monthly financial closings including generation and distribution of various financial statements.
  • Supports monthly and annual budget and periodic forecasting processes.
  • Participates in annual audit associated with our June 30 fiscal year-end.
  • Maintains integrity of general ledger and reporting application data elements.

SR. MANAGER, SERVICES AND SALES OPERATIONS

Itasca, IL

DEPARTMENT: Channels, Sales and Customer Contact.

REPORTS TO:Senior Director, Sales.

BASIC FUNCTION:

The Director, Services and Sales Operations is responsible for leading and managing the Services and Sales Operations function, while supporting all departments across the Council. This is a highly visible and complex role, since the candidate will be required to support and work with senior managers and users across the entire organization. The successful candidate must be a passionate and proactive visionary in driving the adoption and value of the usage of a customer relationship database. In addition, the candidate must be a strong leader, extremely well organized, detail-oriented, quality-minded and possess excellent written and verbal communication skills. Reports on overall project success, costs and goals through complete lead and database management.

RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES:

  • Drive user adoption, value, and ROI as well as the day-to-day user support and system maintenance or Customer Relationship Database.
  • Lead and manage a direct staff of 3 people. Staff responsibilities include tracking sales results versus individual objectives, approving, maintaining and reporting sales compensation plans, annual and monthly revenue tracking and reporting, and ad hoc reporting.
  • Develop and implement complex lead process analysis. Models should measure market potential, current sales, and staff proficiency with accurate and actionable business information.
  • Works with Director Business Development Chapters in developing partnering options for independent chapter executive staff by creating written proposals with sales, expense and revenue projections based on chapter and NSC analysis.
  • Develops clear action plans and driving processes with numerous interdependencies to achieve overall sales and response objectives.
  • Develops and coordinates targeted renewal programs to existing members (NSC and chapter members who don’t belong to NSC). Former members of NSC and chapters.
  • Leads and partners with other key NSC staff on system conversion, review of chapter overlap, running duplication program logic and tagging records for chapter assignment.
  • Manages the service requirements and development of the chapter portal (remote access database) for the chapter network. Works extensively with IT department to meet system changes and critical deadlines.
  • Oversees system and revenue-sharing issues and effectively provides solutions for Chapters and Members. Reports on projects and overall evaluation.
  • Prepares and conducts presentations to Chapter executives, chapter marketing staff and NSC staff.
  • Creates and maintains membership reports of new members, continuing members, canceled members by key promotions and target segments. Develops and maintains tracking program for all membership recruitment and retention campaigns for each chapter.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLs:

Training: A college degree with business, marketing, finance preferred or equivalent combination of education and work experience.

Skill: Excellent analytical skills including implementation, tracking, and problem resolution and reporting. Knowledge of sales forecasting, negotiation with 2 and 3 parties. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Excellent knowledge of Windows 6.0, Microsoft Access, Act, Microsoft Word, Power Point, Excel, and Desk Top Publishing. Membership database knowledge a must. Uses own judgment and communications skill-set in recommending strategies. Must be able to work with multiple and changing priorities.

Minimum Work Experience: A college degree with business, marketing, finance preferred or equivalent combination of education and work experience.

OTHER:

Minimal travel required.
