Subject: 2006AA Release Files Reissued

Dear UMLS Users: On Feb. 13 the NLM determined that the 2006AA UMLS release contained MeSH data errors in four Metathesaurus files. The release was recalled, stopping all download of the incorrect files. Users who had downloaded the release were contacted individually. A corrected and complete UMLS release is now available for download on the UMLSKS. All 2006AA UMLS DVDs will contain the corrected files, and will be sent to those who have requested them in March. An extensive QA process has been implemented to ensure that the problem does not reoccur in future releases. An error was also discovered relating to hierarchies that include references to excluded strings when users exclude UTF-8 characters from their subsets. A release note with a solution has been posted on the UMLS Web. We sincerely apologize for these errors and the delays they caused. We will continue to update the UMLS Release Notes with any other release issues. Thank You, Rachel Kleinsorge UMLS Training Coordinator National Library of Medicine, NIH, HHS 8600 Rockville Pike Bethesda, MD 20894 [log in to unmask] 301-451-6551
