Abstract: (CIT): 2007 Asian Pacific American Heritage Month Program This year's theme is "Pursuing Excellence through Leadership, Diversity and Unity." Vanita Gupta, Staff Attorney, Racial Justice Program, American Civil Liberties Union, will be the keynote speaker. Ms. Gupta will share the story of her first case after graduating from law school in which she successfully led the effort to overturn the convictions of 38 defendants in Tulia, Texas. A screenplay is being written about Ms. Gupta and her work in this case. The program also features panel speakers from the Senior Executive Service, Emerging Leaders, and HRSA Scholar programs who will share with us their experiences and the benefits of being in these programs, as well as the application and selection process.
