Exposure to computers at home may help young people build necessary computer
literacy skills. In 2003, 78 percent of American Indian/Alaska Native, 80 percent
of Black, and 75 percent of Hispanic 8th-graders in public schools reported
using a computer at home. In contrast, 93 percent of White and 94 percent of
Asian/Pacific Islander 8th-graders reported using a computer at home.
