The Obsessive Compulsive Foundation, founded in 1986, is a national, non-profit organization dedicated to increasing public awareness of obsessive compulsive disorder, as well as providing support and information to those who have OCD, their families and friends, and medical professionals. The Foundation provides referrals to both treatment centers and mental health professionals, and helps coordinate support groups, at the community level, throughout the country. It hold bi-monthly support group meetings. Public education is conducted through distribution of literature, lectures, and presentations. The scientific advisory board monitors research and developments in the treatment of OCD. The Foundation distributes scientific article reprints, books, videotapes, and audio cassettes for a fee. Materials are available in Spanish.
Serial Publications: quarterly newsletter for support group leaders; Kidscope, semi-annual newsletter for children and teens with OCD, OCD Newsletter, a bi-monthly newsletter for individuals with OCD, their family members and mental health professionals.
