Senate Confirms Samuel T. Mok As Labor Chief Financial Officer
Treasury’s First CFO To Join Department

WASHINGTON—U.S. Secretary of Labor Elaine L. Chao announced today that the United States Senate has confirmed Samuel T. Mok to be the chief financial officer at the Department of Labor.

“Sam’s impressive private sector experience and public service record will help to increase the effectiveness and accountability of our government programs to truly help people in need,” said Chao.

Before joining the Department of Labor, Mok was the managing member of Condor Consulting, LLC, a strategic management consulting company. Prior to owning his own consulting firm, Mok was chief executive officer at GL Associates.

Mok was the first career chief financial officer and comptroller for the U.S. Treasury Department, appointed by former Treasury Secretary James Baker. While there, he implemented many management control programs to enhance financial reporting and control.

Mok also served as a commissioned strategic intelligence officer in the U.S. Army, where his unit was awarded the Meritorious Unit Citation for outstanding performance. He was also awarded the Meritorious Service Medal while serving as a readiness advisor at Army Readiness Region at the U.S. Military Academy, West Point.

Mok, a certified internal auditor and a certified government financial manager, has been recognized for his civic and public service commitments, including receiving the James Saylor Award for Outstanding Service from the Association of Government Accountants in Washington, D.C.

Mok is a graduate of Fordham University and received his master’s degree in accounting from Catholic University in Washington, D.C. He is a resident of Potomac, Md. and is married to Nancy H. Sing Mok. Mok is the first American of Asian descent to serve as chief financial officer of a Cabinet department.
