Randolph J. Clerihue Sworn In as Assistant Secretary
of Labor for Public Affairs
WASHINGTON U.S. Secretary of Labor Elaine L. Chao announced today that Randolph J. Clerihue has been sworn in as assistant secretary of labor for public affairs.
"I am delighted to have Randy on board at the Department of Labor as the assistant secretary for public affairs," Secretary Chao said. "Randy's exceptional professional background will serve the communications team well in responding to media inquiries and conveying the department's initiatives to protect and advance the interests of American workers."
Clerihue comes to the Department of Labor from the Pension Benefit Guaranty Corporation, where he served as assistant executive director for communications and public affairs. Previously in his Washington career, Clerihue served as the director of communications for the Health Insurance Association of America, communications chief of the President's Commission to Strengthen Social Security, director of public relations for the Cato Institute and Heritage Foundation, and press secretary to Rep. Cliff Stearns (R-Fla).
Clerihue is a graduate of Taylor University in Upland, Ind., and earned his master's degree from Northwestern University's Medill School of Journalism.
