National Institute for Literacy

Program Reviews

The Institute has begun reviewing projects that represent its most significant investments over time. From 2003-2005, the Institute funded a two-year comprehensive review of the Literacy Information and Communication System (LINCS),a single point of access to online literacy resources, knowledge, expertise and training and technical assistance. The results of the review helped the Institute understand LINCS' contribution to adult educators' professional development and pointed the way toward strengthening the quality of resources available on the site.

In September 2005, the Institute awarded a contract to TATC Consulting to review the Bridges to Practice project. Through Bridges, the Institute developed research-based materials and trains adult educators and human service providers to screen, teach, and provide other services that improve education and employment outcomes for learning disabled adults. The review will examine the guidebooks and materials used in training as well as the training and certification process itself. Results are expected in Fall 2006.
