Producer Price Indexes for finished goods, finished energy goods, and foods all fell during 1997. The finished goods index declined for the first time in 11 years. Only the "core" indexfor finished goods less food and energyremained stable throughout the year. This article summarizes changes in Producer Price Indexes during 1997.
