Introduction
Young children are naturally interested in science. They are curious about what things are made of, how they work, why it rains, and countless other questions about the world. Yet, even children in kindergarten and first grade are old enough to have developed misconceptions about scientists and the work that they do.
The purpose of todays lesson is to find out students ideas about scientists, talk about different kinds of scientists, and identify some characteristics of people who choose this profession. After discussing scientists and what they do, students will be introduced to Corty, the mascot of the Brain Power!Club, and to the older members of the club. Students will be able to become members of the club by working on the programs five modules.
