Research Training Program in Environmental Toxicology The program supports interdisciplinary training in reproductive, developmental and endocrine toxicology under the auspices of the Interdisciplinary Environmental Toxicology Program. Participating faculty members are drawn from four Colleges and seven Departments: Molecular and Interactive Physiology; Chemistry; Animal Sciences; Microbiology; Food Science and Human Nutrition; Crop Sciences; and Veterinary Biosciences. Trainees take core courses in biochemistry, endocrinology, basic toxicology, developmental toxicology, and reproductive and endocrine toxicology in addition to their departmental requirements. Research thesis projects are directly related to human health problems and address problems of developmental defects, sterility, breast and testicular cancers, chemical mimics of the hormone estrogen and identification of biomarkers for detection of human exposure to endocrine disruptors.
