Abstract: | (CIT): Center for Cancer Research - National Cancer Institute Grand Rounds Dr. Kraemer received his Sc.B. degree in biology from Brown University and his M.D. from the Tufts University School of Medicine. He is board certified in dermatology and internal medicine, having completed his medical internship and residency at Harlem Hospital in New York City and a residency in dermatology at the University of Miami School of Medicine in Miami, Florida. He has a longstanding interest in human cancer-prone genetic diseases and DNA repair. His studies focus on molecular, cellular, and clinical features of diseases of DNA repair, including xeroderma pigmentosum and trichothiodystrophy. Dr. Kraemer came to NCI in 1971 as a Commissioned Officer in the USPHS. He is currently Chief of the DNA Repair Section in the Basic Research Laboratory, CCR, NCI and he is co-organizer of the NIH DNA Repair Interest Group. He has authored or co-authored more than 200 articles in scientific journals and has served as Associate Editor for the Journal of Investigative Dermatology since 1992. He is a member of the American Society for Clinical Investigation and has received awards from the Society for Investigative Dermatology and the U.S. Public Health Service. The primary educational objective of these seminars is to provide new information, ideas, and discussion about timely areas of research with impact on the field of oncology. A secondary educational objective is to elicit participation by individuals from all divisions of the intramural NCI, and thus facilitate more interactions among investigators and groups in the NCI. |
