STATEMENT BY SECRETARY OF LABOR ROBERT B. REICH

Thurs., Dec. 14, 1995

"Many companies have already discovered that management practices fully involving workers have great value beyond their twin virtues-- higher profits and greater productivity. Practices which treat workers as assets to be developed rather than costs to be cut are critical to the future competitiveness of our national economy.

"Managers across the country should take note of these survey findings. Workers are saying loud and clear that they want to be part of the team. In exchange, they are promising their best efforts to produce world-class, competitive companies. "Everyone wins--workers, managers, and even the country--when workers are given the tools and information to do their jobs."
