(10/17/2005) National Weather Festival. You're invited to attend the National Weather Festival on Saturday, November 5th, 2005 from 9AM until 1PM. Learn more about your National Weather Service in Norman by touring the Norman Forecast Office. You can also tour the Storm Prediction Center, the Radar Operations Center and the National Severe Storms Laboratory. There will be interactive exhibits and hourly weather balloon launches. The festival is free and open to everyone! This will be your last chance to tour the weather facilities in their present location before they move to the new National Weather Center building in 2006. (9/13/2005) Weather Radio Programming. The National Weather Service Norman Forecast Office will join the Oklahoma Department of Emergency Management to help Oklahomans get ready for severe weather. On Saturday September 17th, we'll be near the Center Court at Penn Square Mall in Oklahoma City from 10AM until 2PM. You can get information on how to protect yourself from severe weather, and we will be programming weather radios. Bring your weather radio and we will program it for you. This event is part of Fall Severe Weather Preparedness Week and National Preparedness Month.

(5/27/2005) New Norman Climate Obs Daily and 6-hour climate observations are now available for the NWS Forecast Office in Norman, OK. The user can choose between the time interval of climate observations displayed (6-hour, 24-hour or all obs) for each month, and create a print version of the data. The Norman climate data are based on coded observations made by the NWS Norman staff, and are available for the period beginning in January 2005 to the present month.
(5/25/2005) New Blackwell, OK Tornado Web Pages. May 25, 2005 marked the 50th anniversary of the 1955 Blackwell, Oklahoma tornado. A brief historical review of the event is now available through this link. Note: More information will be added to the Blackwell tornado web pages in the near future.

(5/05/2005) New Snyder, OK Tornado Web Pages. May 10, 2005 marks the 100th anniversary of the 1905 Snyder, Oklahoma tornado and an extensive historical and scientific review of the event is now available through this link.
(5/03/2005) County Tornado Data Updated. Tables containing tornado data by county have been updated with data from tornadoes which occurred from 1926 to 1949 in western north Texas. The updated County Tornado information is available through the Tornado Data by County web page.

(4/04/2005) 2005 Spotter Training Has Ended. NWS Norman Forecast Office would like to thank the emergency managers and others who organized spotter training sessions for 2005. NWS meteorologists conducted more than 40 training sessions at the invitation of local emergency managers. Spotters serve as the last line of defense against the dangerous storms we encounter so frequently here. Thanks to these efforts, over 2500 people were trained as storm spotters. The NWS and the communities served and protected by storm spotters greatly appreciate their hard work and dedication.

(1/03/2005) Oklahoma Voices Radio Program A program called "Oklahoma Voices" will air at 7 p.m. CST on Monday, January 3, 2005 on the KGOU/KROU (106.3/105.7 FM) radio station. The program will feature an audio tour of the NOAA Weather Partners in Norman, including the NWS Norman Forecast Office. More information about this program can be found on the KGOU web site.
(1/03/2005) Information Regarding the Missing Surface Observations from Max Westheimer Airport in Norman (Station ID OUN). Construction on the airport grounds resulted in accidental cutting of a power cable to the airport's Automated Weather Observing System (AWOS) on December 21, 2004. As a result, observations from OUN have been unavailable since December 21. Airport personnel indicate that it may be two more weeks before power can be restored to the system. Therefore, surface observations from Max Westheimer Airport will likely be unavailable until the second week of January 2005.
