On April 15 and 16, 2008 staff from the Virginia Partners for Fish and Wildlife Program and the Rappahannock River Valley National Wildlife Refuge participated in Agricultural Awareness Days promoted by the Three Rivers Soil and Water Conservation District in Tappahannock, Virginia.  An estimated 350 third and fourth grade students from King and Queen, King William, and Essex counties were exposed to principles of wildlife ecology, geology, forestry, agriculture, and the Chesapeake Bay.  Working in 10 minute intervals, classes of 20-30 kids rotated between six natural resource educational stations. Biologist from the Fish and Wildlife Service presented principles of ecology including ecosystem functional roles, food webs, and adaptations for survival in an interactive manner that kept the students intrigued and excited about learning.  Examples of Virginia Flora and Fauna were also available to enhance the educational experience.
