Cedar Breaks National Monument Winter Season Begins (December 15, 2008-March 15, 2009)

Come visit spectacular Cedar Breaks National Monument in winter by snowmobile, cross country skis or snowshoes. Stop by our YURT, which serves as a winter back-country ranger station for a cup of hot cocoa, learn about the park from warm and friendly park rangers and volunteer staff, experience the amazing solitude, wildlife, and winter landscape. Cedar Breaks National Monument Campground Opens (June 12, 2009)

Come join us for a spectacular camping experience at 10,000 feet elevation. Ranger campfire programs in the 28 site campground begin this week along with many other visitor activities. Note that the campground opening date may be slightly earlier or later and is subject to favorable weather. Cedar Breaks National Monument Monthly Star Parties (May 23-Sept 15, 2009)

To celebrate and share the beauty of our dark night skies, Cedar Breaks is throwing a series of monthly "Star Parties." Star parties will be held beginning at 8:30 p.m. with a special evening program in our campground amphitheater, followed by star viewing through several large telescopes at Point Supreme Overlook. Cedar Breaks National Monument 4th Annual Wildflower Festival (July 3-July 19, 2009)

Come joing us in early July, as a wide variety of high country wildflowers burst into full bloom. Wildflower specialists and volunteers will be available every day during the festival to provide information beginning at 10 a.m. Festival highlights include guided walks, intrepretive fieldtrips, photography workshops, Junior Ranger scavenger hunts, and Zion Canyon Field Institute Classes. Throughout the Festival, the visitor center will be hosting an ongoing electronic display of wildflower images as well as discounts on wildflower related books and items. Cedar Breaks National Monument 76th Anniversary Celebration (August 21-August 23, 2009)

Come join Park Rangers, volunteers, and special guests as we celebrate the 76th Anniversary of Cedar Breaks National Monument! Events include special guests and programs that highlight the Monument's history, magnificent scenery, natural resources, and wildlife. On Saturday, August 22, Martin Tyner, founder of the Southwest Wildlife Foundation, will give an informal wildlife program accompanied by his Golden Eagle, Prairie Falcon, and Harris Hawk. If you ever wanted to get up close to some of the world's most powerful birds to learn their life history from Utah's best loved environmental educator, this is an opportunity that should not be missed. This program will culminate in the release of a rehabilitated raptor back into the wild from the Point Supreme Overlook at 12:00 noon. Other park events throughout the month of August will focus on telling about pre-Monument history, the Civilian Conservation Corps, the Cedar Breaks Lodge, and share stories about what it was like to work for the Utah Parks Company. Cedar Breaks National Monument Fall Colors (Sept 19-Oct 5, 2009)

Come join us as thousands of visitors flock to Cedar Mountain for what USA Today calls "one of the top ten places to experience fall colors" in the United States. Special events include guided walks, interpretative fieldtrips, Junior Ranger programs and scavenger hunts. Join us on Saturday, September 19 as we kick off the "Technicolor" fall display of colors with a special one night only showing of the 1940's Technicolor movie "Can't Help Singing," which was filmed in part at Cedar Breaks.
