Washington, DC -- The U.S. General Services Administration's Federal Technology Service (FTS) has announced two additional awards to small businesses under the Technical and Management Support Services Contract (TMS). Eight contract awards have been made to date under TMS. The first six contracts were awarded to large businesses in September.

These latest two awards -- to SETA, Corp., of McLean, VA, and SHERIKON, Inc., of Chantilly, VA, -- result from GSA's ongoing efforts to provide greater opportunities to small businesses and 8(a) firms to compete for more government telecommunications business. The contracts awarded under the TMS program are for two-years with three one-year options and have an estimated total value of up to $3 billion.

These awards are the second series of contracts awarded under the TMS program. The six large businesses awarded contracts on September 12, 1997 were Science Applications International Corporation (SAIC) of Falls Church, VA.; Booz-Allen & Hamilton, Inc. of McLean, VA.; Unisys Corporation of McLean, VA; Boeing Information Services, Inc. of Vienna, VA; DynCorp Information & Engineering Technology, Inc. of Fairfax, VA. and; BDM International, Inc. of McLean, VA.

"The award of these contracts to small businesses is a very important step in GSA's commitment to support the small business community", said FTS Commissioner Dennis Fischer. "Small businesses have a significant role to play in satisfying the Government's Information Technology needs and we are confident of the ability of these companies to meet the high performance standards expected under these contracts."

FTS Deputy Commissioner Sandy Bates said, "We are very pleased to have awarded these contracts as they will provide a critical link for GSA and other agencies as their information technology services evolve to meet the needs of the next century. The TMS contracts will provide cost effective, high quality telecommunications support services to Federal agencies and will allow customers to obtain support services for transition to the FTS2001 contracts when awarded."

Under the TMS contracts customers will be able to acquire engineering and analytical support, operations and maintenance support, testing and evaluation support, and program management support when needed.
