WASHINGTON, DC -- The U.S. General Services Administration's Federal Technology Services (FTS) awarded a contract to Dulles Networking Associates, Inc. (DNA) for satellite communications products and services. The contract, awarded March 22, is an indefinite delivery, indefinite quantity (IDIQ) contract and is available for use by all Federal agencies. The contract has a base period of one year, plus two six-month options and is worth $50 million.

In February, FTS awarded the first two in a series of satellite services contracts to Hughes Global Services, Inc., and John Tidrow & Associates, Inc.

The new contract with DNA will provide Federal agencies with global polling, tracking, data messaging, and access to data in remote locations worldwide. In partnership with ORBCOMM, DNA systems offer low earth orbit (LEO) technology. This technology in combination with the satellite-based Global Position System (GPS) enables a GPS receiver to determine a location anywhere on the globe. This information and the DNA communication link makes it possible to track mobile assets by sending a report when a shipment reaches its destination. DNA uses Panasonic, Scientific Atlanta, and Magellan communicators to allow turn-key satellite network upgrades and installations by incorporating Prestolite wire and fiber optic cable. This technology can be used to monitor temperature and location of refrigerated trucks, truck convoys, or storage containers on land, air and sea.

DNA is a SBA certified 8(a) company, has been a global solutions provider in data and telecommunications systems, design, products, installation and maintenance solutions for the Federal Government, both domestic and foreign, since 1989.
