In Vitro and Animal Models for Infectious Diseases - In Vitro Testing

What services are provided?

The In Vitro and Animal Models for Infectious Diseases program tests antimicrobial activity of products against bacterial pathogens, including those derived from clinical specimens, that are classified as emerging agents or NIAID Category A-C pathogens. This service does not support antiviral screening against viral hemorrhagic fevers or poxviruses

Available bacterial species for in vitro screening include:

  • Bacillus anthracis
  • Brucella abortus
  • Burkholderia mallei
  • Burkholderia psyeudomallei
  • Coxiella burnettii
  • Francisella tularensis (types A and B)
  • Methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) and Vancomycin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (VRSA)
  • Yersinia pestis

Where are the services provided?

Services are provided by multiple contractors.
