TAX DIVISION APPOINTS DARLENE ADDIE KENNEDY
COUNSEL TO THE ASSISTANT ATTORNEY GENERAL

WASHINGTON, D.C. - Eileen J. O'Connor, Assistant Attorney General for the Tax Division, today announced the appointment of Darlene Addie Kennedy as Counsel to the Assistant Attorney General. In that capacity, Ms. Kennedy will help coordinate broad areas of the division's litigation workload, manage special projects, as well as provide advice and counsel to the Assistant Attorney General on the legal, policy and administrative issues facing the Tax Division.

"Ms. Kennedy brings to the Division a valuable background in tax law," said Assistant Attorney General O'Connor. "Her knowledge of tax law, coupled with her commitment to public service, make her well qualified to fill the important and challenging post of Counsel to the Assistant Attorney General."

From 1998 to 2002, Ms. Kennedy was an assistant professor at the Regent University School of Law, where she taught federal and corporate taxation, estate and gift tax, as well as estate and business planning. She has also been an adjunct professor at Howard University School of Law and the University of Baltimore School of Law.

Before coming to the Tax Division, Ms. Kennedy served as special assistant to the Department of Housing and Urban Development's Assistant Secretary for Public and Indian Housing. Ms. Kennedy received her law degree from Syracuse University in 1991 and received an LL.M. in taxation from the University of Baltimore in 1996. She received a B.A. degree from John Jay College of Criminal Justice in 1988.
